About me

Born and raised in Bulgaria, I am very proud of my roots. My home country is a small and charming land situated in Eastern Europe that has been existing for more than 1300 years, which is probably a big surprise for anybody who might have missed history class. Unfortunately, communism left its mark, and Bulgaria didn’t manage to thrive during the Transition years in Central and Eastern Europe, which led to many people emigrating to Western Europe in pursuit of a better life. How is that related to me? Well, I am one of those people. I’m a 23-year-old, who moved to Germany in pursuit of better education and a better life overall. Needless to say, I never expected to skip the cultural shock when I relocated, but I sure didn’t expect what was coming for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love traveling, I’ve been to many different places and met so many different people, so I had a chance to explore different cultures even before I moved to Germany. But visiting a country and living in it are two very different things. I had my first encounter with Germany in 2015 when I visited for 2 weeks. It was a part of a program for cultural exchange, and I stayed at a german family’s house. It was cool, I liked it very much back then, but I was 15 so I didn’t realize that visiting and having all your needs met by your hosts is veeery different than living on your own.
